In the beginning, scripture tells us, “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.” ...(Genesis 1: 31)
In this, we hear of the world, and the inhabitants of the world, created by God. God is good – all good. It is not in God’s nature to create anything that is bad or evil. The evil we know in the world of today has come from elsewhere. |

Your Grace, MiLords, Sisters and Brothers in Christ, All It is always wonderful to celebrate the birth of a baby – a new person joining the human race. In our culture in Africa our children are central to the family unit; and the birth of a baby is celebrated by the community. The naming of the baby is an important part of the baby’s rite of passage into the community. |

When proclaiming the birth of Jesus the time when God came to live among us as a human being the angels sang: "Glory to God in the highest Heaven! Peace upon earth among men of goodwill!" ...(Luke 2: 14) Christmas is traditionally the time when we reflect upon peace and goodwill in our world and in our lives. As we are witness to such a lack of peace in our world, it is important to do this at least once in the year! It is sad to see how so many people seek their own agenda, ignoring the impact their actions may have on those around them. |

On the night of the first Christmas shepherds were watching their flocks in the fields outside Bethlehem. When an angel appeared to them they were terrified; but “the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. It is important, each Christmas, to remind ourselves of the immense significance of this season, by both reflecting on the historical event and the meaning of this event for us today. At this time we recall that a baby, who was named Jesus, was born in the town of Bethlehem. The significance of this birth is that it was the moment in history when God decided to be among His people in human form.
