EASTER MESSAGE 2010

We now celebrate Easter – the Feast of the Resurrection of Jesus.  Before the Resurrection there had to be Good Friday, when Jesus suffered at the hands of those who feared him, and was finally put to death.  After the pain and darkness (and even hopelessness) of Good Friday, we find light and life and hope in Easter.

EASTER MESSAGE 2009

On the first Easter morning – the Day of the Resurrection – Mary Magdalene went to the other disciples with some momentous news – breaking news!

“I have seen the Lord” (John 20: 18)

Mary had just met the risen Lord.  It was life-changing experience for her; and a life-changing experience for the other disciples as they met the risen Christ during the days after his resurrection.

EASTER MESSAGE 2008

In the words of St. Peter, the apostle of Jesus Christ,

“Praise be to God … who in his great mercy gave us new birth into a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead!” (1 Peter 1: 3)

At this time we are celebrating the Feast of the Resurrection, or Easter.  Incidentally, we have not had Easter this early for Ninety five (95) years and the next time we are going to have Easter this early will be in Two Hundred and Twenty (220) years’ time – 2228! Be that as it may, early or late, Easter continues to be celebrated joyously annually.

My dear Bishops, Clergy and good people of the CPWA,

The Lord is Risen!!

The Feast of the Resurrection, or Easter Day, is the backbone of the Christian faith. The fact that our God came to live among us here on earth in the form of the man Jesus, and events of the first Good Friday and Easter Day, is the reason for the existence of the Christian faith.

Easter Message 2003
The Easter Message is one of “liberation”, “victory”, “hope” and “renewal”. This season – that is, the time from Good Friday through to Easter Day – is the time when the nature of God is revealed to us in all its glory, and His plan for the salvation of humankind reaches its climax. Sin has come into our world through the pride and selfishness of humankind.
